Three routes dominate here and they are not priced alike. The gap between the cheapest and the most expensive is usually a few per cent of the amount.

## Card from a local bank

Fastest and most expensive. The card fee at the venue, the conversion from tenge if the venue prices in dollars, and sometimes a cross-border fee from the issuing bank.

Three charges, one of which your bank applies and the venue cannot see. Check your own card terms before assuming the venue's fee is the whole cost.

## Local bank transfer

Cheaper and slower. The transfer itself is usually free or close to it domestically, and the venue's deposit fee for a transfer is normally lower than for a card.

The cost is timing. A transfer sent outside banking hours is a next-working-day transfer, and the rate moves overnight.

## P2P

The best headline rate and the widest range of outcomes. You deal with a person, the escrow holds the crypto, and the tenge moves between two bank accounts.

The risks are a counterparty who disputes, a payment reversed after release, and a bank that asks questions about an incoming transfer from a stranger. The third is the one people underestimate.

## The conversion question

If the venue quotes in dollars, your tenge crosses a currency conversion before it buys anything. That conversion has a margin and it is rarely itemised.

[Platforms that price in tenge rather than dollars](https://collectnexchange.com/services/crypto-onramp) remove this step entirely, which on a large purchase is worth more than any fee difference.

## What to compare

Not the fee. The amount of crypto that arrives for a fixed amount of tenge, at the same moment, at each venue.

That single number includes the fee, the conversion and the spread, which is why it is the only comparison worth making.

## The practical ranking

For a first or small purchase, card is acceptable because the absolute cost is small. For anything regular, a local transfer to [venues that accept a local bank transfer](https://collectnexchange.com/services/crypto-exchange) is materially cheaper.

P2P pays off for people who transact often enough to understand the dispute process before they need it.

## What to set up once

A verified account at [an exchange that quotes the tenge rate directly](https://collectnexchange.com/), with your bank confirmed as a working route. After that the choice per purchase is a thirty second decision rather than a research project.
